Migration, Citizenship, Belonging

About Daniel Atz

Since 2016 I’ve worked on helping people reconnect with their European heritage and open up global mobility through ancestry citizenship. It started with my own journey back to my Luxembourg roots.

My Story

What began as a personal search through my family’s migration history grew into ventures that have helped thousands of Americans reconnect with their European origins. Along the way I’ve worked with government officials, archivists, historians and legal experts across Europe and the Americas.

My work sits at the intersection of identity, history, law and technology — as research, as film, and from the stage. I’m driven by the belief that understanding where we came from tells us something useful about where we are going.

Dual Citizenship Decoded

Author Of The LuxCitizenship Study 2024

The LuxCitizenship Study 2024 examines the rise of dual citizenship in the Americas, with a focus on Luxembourg’s growing global diaspora.

It draws on original research and firsthand interviews to explain why a second citizenship has become both a strategic and a personal priority. The study is profiled by the Luxembourg government’s open-data portal and held in the catalogue of the Centre de Documentation sur les Migrations Humaines.
